FAQ overview

Why create a site like this?

The site was created because we were starting to accumulate a LOT of files in various formats pertaining to Alcoholics Anonymous. We wanted to put this up in a place where people could visit making it available to all.

Why "bigbookthumper"? Are you some kind of right-wing extremists?

No.

We believe the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous is the product of the work done around the text of the book Alcoholics Anonymous, affectionately called the "Big Book". The Big Book is what we are about.

We're not trying to change your opinion on anything, we're simply here to carry the message.

Can I add material to the site?

Yes, absolutely. If you register you can add whatever you like. We will check the material to see if it fits the audience. Please do not upload any audio or video files or anything that has an enforceable copyright policy.

Yeah, but how do I post material?

Register with the site and log in. After logging in you go to "my folder" on the bottom. There you can create new articles.

Please create the files as pages, not files, if at all possible. This makes integration more seamless and also makes the files searchable. Also please change all line breaks (new lines) into double line breaks. This makes the page more readable.

Ehm, I still don't get it. How do I add content to the site?

Start by registering:
Press new user, give us your full name, username (used to log into the site) and email address you will be using to verify your identity. You will get an email containing a link you must click to finish registration where you choose a password.

Once logged in, click "my folder" on the bottom of this window. This is your folder and your work area. Click the "add item" menu and choose "page".

Now you can enter whatever text you think should be published. Please remember that as long as the file is not HTML you will need to choose "Plain Text" from the "Text Format" menu. Save by clicking "Save". When you're ready for publication you will have to select "Submit" from the "State" menu.

Thats it! You've posted your page.
